History of the IRM - A Museum In Motion
GOLDEN SPIKE CEREMONY
On September 21, 1991, the officers and members of the Illinois Railway Museum drove the "Golden Spike" marking the completion of the main line between Jefferson Street in Union and Kishwaukee Grove.
The ceremony culminated a twenty-seven-year project to build a demonstration railroad that would replicate a railway of the 1930 to 1960 era.
